Vic: Warm reponse for driver reward proposal
A proposal by Victoria police Chief Commissioner CHRISTINE NIXON to reward good drivershas been welcomed by both the state government and the state's key driver lobby group.
The state government has given its in principle backing to the suggestion that motoristsget extra points on their licences for staying within the road rules for set periods.
And the RACV has pledged to work with police to translate the theory into practical proposals.
Ms NIXON has suggested motorists to get points for not having accidents or being fined,and her force is working with the Transport Accident Commission and VicRoads to find waysto encourage good driving.
Ms NIXON says she is committed to improving road safety and believes more should bedone to reward safe and responsible drivers.
