New administrators at Bellevue Woman's Hospital have laid off 19 people as part of an effort to reduce costs by $1.7 million annually.

The eliminated positions, in areas like housekeeping and computer services, do not include any health-care professionals.

`'We did not make any cuts that directly impact patient care,'' said Anne Saile, Bellevue's senior vice president, who will become president and chief executive when the hospital converts to nonprofit status in September.
