NSW: Man to face court over robberies
SYDNEY, April 9 AAP - A 34-year-old man will face Central Local Court today chargedover a number of serious robberies across Sydney's south-west.
Officers attached to Operation Alphabets arrested the man in Marrickville as part ofa joint investigation involving the Metropolitan Robbery Unit and Campsie detectives.
He was arrested after a stolen vehicle hit a marked police car near Tempe Railway Stationabout 2pm (AEST) yesterday.
He allegedly fled the scene, but was arrested after police chased him on foot and tookhim to Newtown Police Station.
He was charged with two larceny matters and a carjacking incident at Roselands on February19, which involved a 57-year-old Peakhurst woman.
He was also charged over a robbery at Chullora on February 21.
He was refused bail and will appear at Central Local Court this morning.
Operations Alphabets was formed after an increase of robbery offences in the Bankstown,Burwood, Ashfield, Marrickville and Campsie Commands.
